I adore chestnuts - score down the middle, put a slightly damp tea towel over them and microwave for 60 seconds (possibly more depending on size).

Then a light dip in salt and viola! Winter snack perfection.

I'm planning to make stew with the ones I picked up the other day.

I didn't know you could do them in the microwave
