I'm not just talking about getting thicker/glossier during pregnancy and then thinning out afterwards, but completely changing colour and texture.
My hair was a very light blond and almost dead straight as a child. It gradually went darker but even into my early/mid thirties I was definitely still a 'honey/caramel blond'. A couple of years before I had DS1 I started noticing that I had an odd dark brown and very wavy/curly hair.
During the pregnancy with DS1 and the 3 years since my hair went several shades darker and now could only be described as 'fair' rather than blond. The number of dark curly hairs also increased, but you would still only notice them if I pointed them out.
I'm now about 3.5 months pregnant with DS2 and the number of dark curly hairs has increased dramatically, so that I have a pretty noticeable halo of dark curly hair over my straight light ones. The fair hairs are also falling out at an alarming rate- very similar to the rate of post pregnancy loss I had with DS1.
It is partly genetic as my dad also went from being blond to having dark wavy hair. His changed in his late 20s/early 30s, but obviously wasn't influenced by hormones as mine seems to be.
I'm interested to hear if anyone's hair changed so dramatically, and if so, how long the process took to complete?
