London - Where to eat?

We're off to London in Feb for a 5 day family trip. Me , DH and DD 6. I'm looking for recommendations for good places to eat for lunch and dinner . I've been to London before but didn't take advantage of all the lovely restaurants as I was pregnant and knackered and relied on room service in the evening 😄.

Looking for recommendations in these areas :-
-We're staying in the park plaza riverbank so anything in this area and Westminster .
-Oxford st/ Regent st / Leicester sq
-Area around natural history museum / science museum / Harrods.

We like traditional British grub, meat, bbq, Mexican, Italian and Chinese food.

Thank you in advance.

Planet Hollywood, St James (about 10 minutes on tube from Oxford Street) is good

What sort of budget are you looking at? There are some great places but it really does depend on what you want to spend!

Anything from middle of the road up really. We don't mind treating ourselves some evenings. Think our limit per evening meal would be £100 (for everything)

Skylon is nice. And it's near your hotel

Go to Kingley Court in SoHo - loads of different restaurants and so close to Oxford Street.

Bentleys off regent st. Amazing seafood and fabulous service.

Southbank has lots of chains - Las Iguanas and Wagamamas, maybe others too.

Maybe Wahaca?

Dishoom is great, if you like Indian food, but you have to queue, unless you eat dinner early. They do fun breakfasts, and you can usually just walk in.

For the Science Museum etc Ognisko in Exhibition Road is lovely for Polish food and Steins Berlin Cafe a few doors up is great for a German sausage blow out. Pierino in Thurlow Place is a decent Italian and there is also a family friendly Comptoir Libannais there. There is also an Honest Burger but never eaten there.

Near to where you are staying, Noura in Hobart Place does good Lebanese food, The Corner Cafe in Lambert Road is great for a proper cafe lunch if you are doing the Imperial War Museum while you are down and the Crown and Cushion in Westminster Bridge Road is decent pub grub

Not a whole meal but Amorino for ice cream flowers - I had 6/7 flavours in mine.......

there's an excellent food market at Southbank, behind festival hall. Also you've got loads of options at Borough Markets. These are lunch recommendations

ExplodingCarrots · 22/10/2019 18:26

Thank you for all these suggestions. Would be interested to try the polish and Lebanese places for something different. We live rurally so don't have the luxury of choice here.

Around NHM is Kitchen W8. They are Michelin star but do an early door meal if you book which I think is 30 pounds per head - the food is AWESOME! Never had a bad meal there.

Also a little further up is Kensington Place a fish monger and restaurant which is lovely (this is towards Notting hill tube).

The lunch is really good in the William Morris cafe at the v and a but you need to get there early.

The polish club (above) is really awesome!!
