Anyone able to answer a Child Maintaince service question... cos the Child maintenance service evidently can't

Please can anyone tell me if the child maintenance service payments are done in arrears or in advance? So if you stop work mid September will the first pay packet effected be October, September (or November as was the case with CSA). Evidently CMS operative dont know the answer and the result means either ex owes me money, i owe ex money or ex owes me an awful lot of money.

Are they actually any good at chasing NRP? And how susceptible are they to the NRP pleading poverty? Hes notified a change if income then sent nothing and ignored. They've said theyre a going to put back in place the previous assessment due to non response, are they likely to go back on it if he suddenly calls with a sob story.

Basically how badly am i likely to be stitched over by this? Im three phone calls down and already im being told different things by different people and they have literally done nothing in over a month.

Yes they are most definately worse thant the csa. No one knows anything there unfortunately. I found them useless and gave up my ringing them as they were completely useless it wasnt worth the stress my ex didnt pay and they have recently wrote his debt off even though my eldest is only 11. Its funny how they can write off debt that is owed to you and not them.
Unfortunately I am not the only one there are many rps with the same experience as it makes the cms look like its doing its job when infact they are just writing off debts. The cms is extremely underhand.

Bugger. At least the CSA let me know when they were about to stitch me up. These guys are still saying well cos he hasnt dpne anything hes in arrears, whilst actually doing nothing themselves. We having even started the process of locating his hypothetical new employer... or chasing the missing October payment... or even actually working out if Octobers payment is due. At least the CSA with a deduction of earnings order I had a buffer of 2 months for a change to actually impact on me (Actually one cos he always waited one to tell them). He actually could have already stitched me over and CMS actually released a newyears assessment knowing full well hed notified them he was unemployed. Its completely ridiculous
