How noisy should a classroom of 5 year olds be?

My DS started school in August. He's 5 already and had no problems at nursery. He socialises really well and is generally a robust wee thing.

I've been a bit worried about him in school, but just put it down to a big change. He comes home really unsettled, in a sort of manic tiredness. I've also noticed him becoming much louder.

We were at the library today and there was an autumn arts and crafts thing on. I asked on the way home if he enjoyed it and he said yes, it was lovely and quiet. I asked if his classroom was quiet and he said no, it's too noisy and he liked nursery better.

I'm obviously now worrying myself sick here so any advice would be great.

What exactly are you worried about? Large group of kids=noisy but large group of kids also =opportunities to learn and socialise. All reception kids are knackered by half term and starting school is overwhelming. Don't panic!

My child's four and has just started school. She is fairly quiet and in fairyland at school. She comes out of school angry, rude and tells her friend to go away from my son's pushchair. She's terrible and it upsets me that she is so rude! For what it's worth though I think it's too much too soon. She has gone from 6 hours of nursery to 30 hours of school. They all will be reacting to the tiredness and having to behave all-day. They come out and let it all go. I hope it gets better soon though. So glad it's half term next week. Hope we can all rest and have a break x
