Book reccomedations for 8 y/o girl?

Can anyone recommend any books or authors for an 8 year old girl?

My DD has asked for some new books for her birthday but I'm running out of ideas for what to get for her. She has already read a lot of Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Enid Blyton, C.S Lewis etc. She has read the first 3 Harry Potters but I won't let her read past that.

Does anyone have any suggestions for authors in the same vein as above that we might not have heard of which she might enjoy? Thank you!

Have a look at Maz Evans, MG Leonard, Robin Stevens, Piers Torday, Abi Elphinstone, Emma Carroll. All current authors writing great novels for that age group.

David Baddiel, The 13 story treehouse series (they are a little easier to read than some of the authors you have quoted but all my kids enjoy them), Tom Fletcher, David Solomon's My Brother is a Super Hero series, 'The Boy at the back of the class' is a book we all read recently and was fabulous, Michael Morpurgo books, Terry Pratchett (Tuckers etc).

What about a magazine subscription too? Aquila, Science and Nature, The Week Junior.....

Noel Streatfeild, Dodie Smith, Joan Aiken, Philippa Pearce are some more classic writers

Have a look at StarFell by Dominique Valente. It's still in hardback but I actually read it and couldn't put it down! 😂

Thanks so much all! I've not heard of most of these and DD will be chuffed with some new books. I love the idea of a magazine subscription, DD would adore that!

The (beautifully produced and funny) Goth Girl series by Chris Riddell.

Get me out of witch school series was a hit with DD and she reads endless volumes of the Ballet Shoes.

Even older classics if she hasn't read them - The Secret Garden and The Railway Children.

Books that have become classics - When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit and The Turbulent Term of Tyke Tiler - DON'T peek at the ending.

A fairly recent book that I really enjoyed - A Greyhound of a Girl.

If she likes classics how about Narnia, Little Women, The Hobbit?

What @pollypacey said and also Alex Bell's Polar Bear Explorers Club series. Third one being published on November the 7th!
