could this be the start of appendicitis?

DD came in in about 3am having been woken about an hour before hand with stabbing pains in her lower stomach and a bad headache. I gave her some ibrofen and it seemed to wear off for a couple of hours She came back in at about 6.30 with the same symptoms and very pale looking so gave her paracetomol this time and she's gone back to sleep now.

As far as I can tell she's got no other symptoms so not sure whether to try for a GP appointment or not. It seems it can be controlled with basic pain killers but because it came on so suddenly worried it could be appendicitis starting up

Isn't it appendicitis where you can't bring your right knee up to your chest because of the pain?

boddtm · 15/10/2019 08:59

My daughter had something similar last year - about the same age. It was the lymph nodes in her stomach, but presented v similar to appendicitis. I would see your GP if it doesn't get any better today

You can report a name change fail and mumsnet will be able to fix the name you posted from, clever MNHQ.

Hi cottonwoolbrain, we've sorted your name change fail.

Sorry you've had a worrying night. We thought we'd post a couple of links to the NHS web page on appendicitis, and this page which deals specifically with appendicitis in children.

Do call your GP or 111 for more advice if you're still concerned this morning.

Sending good wishes - we hope your DD's okay. Flowers
