42 year old IVF cycle - any advice on embryo transfer and selection?

Hi everyone

Just had a fresh embryo transfer yesterday of early blastocyst (one frozen A grade day 3 embryo) and wanted a bit of advice and hear your success stories! Haven't found much on the internet around success with early blast transfer, or what the advice should be - consultant said we have 2 options: leave the early blast to day 6 and freeze it to transfer later, or transfer early blast now. He advised your body is the best incubator, so we went for it.. .
So confused and wondering if this doesn't work what advice do you have for future? Transfer a day 3 embryo? Always push to day 5? Can early blast even work ? Age is a concern of course for me..
I should add I'm doing mild ivf and only got 4 eggs.
Thanks for your thoughts and stories!

Why would they freeze it rather than transfer on day 5/6? I guess things may have changed since I had ivf. FWIW we got 7 eggs, transferred one 5 day blastocyst who is now having a swimming lesson as I type. We only had one other blastocyst which was frozen then donated for research as we’re very happy with just the one child Grin Good luck Flowers

Haunted that's amazing!! Love hearing these success stories! I was surprised too... 2 reasons the Embryologist told me, they don't do transfers on Sunday (and waiting till day 6 would have meant today) and also (although I think this is less pertinent for them) that day 5 is the optimal uterine environment and they can't guarantee its if similar quality day 6... so I just went with the 5 day transfer and hope for the best ! If I may ask how old were you when you had your ivf? Enjoy swimming !

I had one cycle. I had hyper-stimulated and they stopped extracting eggs at 17...and then only 3 fertilised properly. They couldn't proceed because of the hyper-stimulation so they were all frozen. One didn't survive the freezing/thawing process, one started to deteriorate before implant...and one is lying beside me watching Christmas DVDs.

I was 35 hence them only putting one back. I tested after 5 days and got a strong line. Do they still give you those awful progesterone pessaries? They were grim!

Ah that's a lovely story lannister! Hoping we can get lucky too ! Yes pressies 3 times a day... what a mess... id rather take injections !
Do any of you know what a good ratio of embryos to egg are ? The consultant doesn't want to go into that detail and says it's individual....just don't know what to expect...
