(Yawn) very old washing powder - would you still use it?

Sorry for excessively dull Friday night subject matter!

We have been spring cleaning and I found a small box of non-bio washing powder at the back of the cupboard under the sink. I can remember when I bought this - we were on holiday in France in 2014. So it's 5 years old. The box has got slightly damp and the powder in it is a bit solid, but I could break it up and use it.

Would you? Do you think it will still work? Am I completely over-thinking this?

Yes I would use it. The washing powder in out holiday home sometimes gets a bit damp. It still works fine. The powde4 gets wet in the machine anyway.

I would use it. might be lumpy.

Yep it will be fine, I love powder and prefer it.

I love powder too Vincent. Years and years ago when I had a washing machine engineer out to look at my machine he said "use powder not liquid if you want your machine to last" and I've stuck with that faithfully. Also, powder comes in a cardboard box (degradable) where liquid comes in plastic bottles (hangs around for hundreds of centuries).

Just usually I use fresher stuff. I wondered if it lost effectiveness after many years.

If you're worried, use it for a towel wash or something that isnt that dirty :)

I would use it too, but maybe on the 'extra rinse' cycle.

I'm sure it will be just as good. Sometimes I find when the powder has compacted at the bottom of a big box I can break it into chunks and use them like tablets in the drum
