What’s your favourite mug to drink out of?

I have just broken the handle of my beloved Emma Bridgewater half pint mug and need a new one. I then realised that I have broken the handle of every Emma Bridgewater mug I’ve had, so maybe they aren’t the way to go-I’ve never broken another mug at the handle!!

Can you recommend me your favourite mug to drink out of? I don’t want anything too small (not enough tea) or too big (goes cold!) -half a pint was just right (to channel Goldilocks!)

PiP Studio for coffee in the mornings, we have a full set of their mugs, plates, bowls etc. They are perfect mugs for me.

Burleigh blue heritage prints for tea. We also have a full set of these, mugs, plates, bowls etc all blue but all different patterns

We have collected them over years.

I find it hard to drink from a 'wrong' mug

Anthropology do some gorgeous ones.

Ooh, thank you both-I will have a hunt!

I rather like the look of the Le Creuset ones, I wonder if they are good to drink from!!

I favour a jug mug shape where you can wrap your hands around - the shape of Portobello Anglesey mugs www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01JLXEV6U/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

If you were tempted to try another EB then TK Maxx have them in at the moment for £12, which is the same as the factory shop.

Incidentally I've never broken and EB mug handle. What do you do with them?! Grin

I have got a set of various designs of these mugs.

I like a thin china mug that holds plenty of coffee.

I am a right princess when it comes to mugs for tea - bone china or porcelain, thin lip, decent size (who wants a small mug??), and must be white or pale on the inside. I can't judge the strength of the tea otherwise. Hate dark-coloured-on-the-inside mugs. Fine for coffee and hot chocolate though!

I have a couple of Emma Bridgewater ones and they are the perfect size. I'm less keen on the handles though, not particularly comfortable. Prefer a flat handle to round - better grip.

Blimey, what a fusspot I am.

Brixton pottery or cornishware

OP I was just thinking ‘did the OP really drink half a litre of coffee in one go - that’s a lot!

Then I noticed it was half a pint and I drink more than you! My cup fits two espressos and two long coffees from my bean to cup machine with a splash of milk ... I am a champion when it comes to coffee drinking - two of them before I go to work.

I love those Bronte mugs, never saw them before! Very tempting!
I also agree that Anthropologie have gorgeous mugs

I am currently drinking out of a green le creuset one. We bought the rainbow set, bit pricey but absolutely perfect in every way and I love picking what colour mood I'm in of a morning.

My favourite mug for work used to be a large blue spotty one from Whittards. Easily two big cups of coffees worth. Then someone broke it. I have an Emma Bridgwater one now which I love. I have one that I'm not allowed at work where the handle is a C then it has UNT typed on it.
My home favourite one is a Harry Potter one which says 'if you don't understand my my Harry Potter references there is something siriusly ron with you'.

I have a bit of a cup thing.

midsomermurderess · 11/10/2019 16:44

One I got from Next years ago. I suppose it's sort of duck-egg blue and the perfect size and weight for a mug.

They are by far my favourite mug caper. I am a friend of the museum and live close enough to go to Haworth a few times a year for various things. Pleased they are now selling them online as they didn’t the last time I broke one!
