Anyone know what this film was?

When I was 12 in the early 90s it was customary to have sleepovers and watch deeply inappropriate films.

There was one I remember being so utterly terrifying but don't know the name. For some reason I want to find it and watch it again to see if it was as bad as I remember.

I'm afraid the details are somewhat hazy: all I remember was it was a bit a train with a murderer on it (it might have been in black and white but I am not sure)

You never saw the murderers face, just saw him going up and down the carriages.

Years later I watched the German silent film "M" and it made me think of it if that is in any way obscurely helpful.

The Lady Vanishes ? Not really scary though!

No help to you but I found my teen terror movie - Pet cemetery!

Definitely couldn’t watch it again.
Be careful what you wish for.

Grin at The Lady Vanishes

It wasn’t Ghost was it? I remember a bit with a scary ghost who haunted a train...

This isn’t the film you’re thinking of but god I absolutely loved The Craft at that age

Did anyone else have sleepovers repeating “stiff as a feather, light as a board” while one of you laid on the floor, trying desperately to levitate?!

Creep?! Think that might be a bit later though. Set on a tube I think.

Thanks for trying. None of those I think.

I do remember the girl whose sleepover it was lived next to a graveyard. We worked ourselves up so much that we thought there was a man staring in at the window. We got her poor mother to call the police!

Those "parties" were awful.

We watched the original IT.

Was terrified of it for years. I still don't walk over grids.

It wasn't the Miss Marple episode where the women is murdered on the train? I know it's not a film but they were quite long programmes.

Strangers on a train?
