Car seat and pramsuit not snow suit?

So I know and have read about no snowsuits or thick coats in the car due to compression in an accident. But does this include pram suits?

The one i have seen is basically an all over fleece, no thicker than a warm cardigan.

That sounds fine, it's only the very thick ones (even thick jackets on older children) which make it unsafe.

I used on of these blankets. It was one of my bets buys. I used it in the pram as well as the car seat and it lasted long enough that the price was well worth it.

Thanks. Yes i had seen those blankets also. Its more for the days when i drive to town, then its out of town area means we are in and out of the car often ie out at post office, back in car, drive 5 mins, out at pet store/diy/supermarket etc. It seems it would take ages clothes on and off, baby in sling, repeat on return.

Its freezing here in winter, so nothing would be too cold outside for 10 minutes. its also a 5 minute walk from front door to where car is kept. I will get a thicker snowsuit for when we drive to one location, get out and stay outside longer.

I transferred the blanket from the car seat to the pram and didn’t bother with coats. I had a really good footmuff for the pram and stored a thick blanket at the bottom of this in case I needed more. I didn’t bother with coats for the earlier days. I still did this when they were walking, but did the same, except I had a coat in case they wanted to walk.

I didn’t use a coat/ pram suit in the sling, either (I always found mine overheated). I put them in the sling in ordinary clothes, and bought a massive fleece that I fastened round us both. Not exactly stylish, but easy and warm.

Babies can get very warm in car seats as they aren't very breathable. I would use whatever normal clothes you'd use indoors and then add a jumper and a blanket. You can then easily remove the blanket when it gets too warm or you are going inside and not have to unbuckle baby/undress them to prevent overheating. We live in a rural area and have to drive into town and in and out of the car in a windy area and I still haven't ever found the need for a pramsuit.

Switch the car and heating on in advance, take them to it wearing the snowsuit And pramsuit then take off the snowsuit in the car.

@Teddybear45 - I can't really turn heating on in advance. they car is in a communal car park, at the end of the street, not outside my house. Its a kind of old crappy car so generally its only getting warm once i arrive in town.

Maybe just a blanket wrapped over them outside and over seat in car is enough. i can see how that goes first i suppose instead of buying first.

I got one of these from Next, it's like sweatshirt material, so a bit warmer than a sleep suit
