Books for 6 year old to read himself - any recommendations?

My son is 6 (Year 2), he would love some books he could read on his own when he is bored but I think they need to be pretty simple so as not to put him off! He's made his way through most that we have at home.

He loves Harry Potter which I read to him but it's too advanced for him to read by himself. He also enjoyed Treasure Island, Wizard of Oz and Gulliver's travels (abridged Ladybird reader versions), and some of the more simple Roald Dahl ones. Most of these I read to him but he read bits of them himself.

Can anyone recommend anything simple that he might like?

I second Flat Stanley.
There's an American series called the Dragon Masters, depends if you want to introduce "wrong" spellings...
Walker series are a series of 3-chapter books.

Thanks everyone! I will look these up. I remember Flat Stanley from when I was at school, completely forgot about that.

My son loved Beast Quest and Sea Quest at that age.

The Michael Rosen funny stories are good. (Author of going on a bear hunt) My old year 2 class used to scream with laughter.

Sorry don't know how to make it clicky.

I've managed to get hold of Flat Stanley and one of the Treehouse books - both perfect thank you! I will get more in both these series and will definitely check out all the others listed on this thread. Thanks very much everyone.
