Stupid question about EE roaming because I am from the stone age

I'm going to Italy next week. My EE terms say that I can use my minutes, texts and data in Italy for no extra cost, just as if I were at home. Great. Back in the day, you used to have to register for this sort of thing in advance. I am thinking this is no longer the case. Am I right...?

You can use your normal data allowance without having to sign up
For any extras or go WiFi only, It only changed a couple of years ago.

You can text ROAMING to 150 just to be sure. I know I can use it all the same but I still like to check as I’m a paranoid person!
