Did you know there is a shipping equivalent?

Love this!

FreshwaterBay · 07/10/2019 23:06

Yes indeed dear OP.

I look at both with frequent regularity. Though Vessel Finder is one I look at mostly. It amazes me how the shipping ones have more detailed inland maps, than other land maps.

Outsomnia · 07/10/2019 23:06

Too addictive, but I love em both. Have to step away sometimes!

Do I need to go to the Priory? LOL.

JulietTango · 07/10/2019 23:08

I mean, i do completely understand why, but I feel a bit disappointed that the military planes which go over my area are not on flight radar

NewNameGuy · 07/10/2019 23:09

Love it!

FilthyBiscuit · 07/10/2019 23:09

Vessel finder you say?

megletthesecond · 07/10/2019 23:12

Oh I love this! Thank you.

FilthyBiscuit · 07/10/2019 23:28

Someone needs to merge all 3. What a busy world we live in.

I wonder if I can play battleships with them 🤔

My dd would love this shipping app. We were at mil’s and she followed the progress of a ship by googling it and finding out its cargo. I have Flightradar24, all in all we’re a bunch of nerds 🤓

FreshwaterBay · 07/10/2019 23:33

Also UK lightning maps is cool. Watch the storm strike down to about 5 metres. We watched them go off like bombs around our house in summer.

GraceVanPelt · 07/10/2019 23:38

@JulietTango if you're interested enough to pay £20 a year, 360 radar will give you the details of the military aircraft near you. DH is obsessed!

JellicleCat · 07/10/2019 23:39

Love it. You can see traffic on inland waterways too.

PancakeAndKeith · 07/10/2019 23:41

Ooooh. I love this. I can see a port from my bedroom window and often hear the ships.

JulietTango · 08/10/2019 01:20

GraceVanPelt really? That might be worth looking into, thanks

PancakeAndKeith · 08/10/2019 07:28

Oooh. We had a stealth bomber fly over the house a few weeks ago, and we get lots of other random military planes.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 08/10/2019 07:37

I have all of the apps on my phone and I can spend hours down the rabbithole!

On a sort-of related note, star gazing apps are awesome too. Just point your phone at the sky and it tells you what stars/constellations/planets you are looking at.

Lowlandlucky · 08/10/2019 08:41

Oh no, why did you tell me about this ? I think this could overtake my NASA habit

ColaPip · 08/10/2019 08:46

Love it! Thanks for the tip

GraceVanPelt · 08/10/2019 11:58

@JulietTango yes, we had a Hawk circling overhead for about an hour last week, it was awesome. Used to get Chinooks regularly where we used to live, felt like you could touch them they were so close! If you want to take it even further you can buy a radio to listen in to the pilots and ATC like DH does Hmm

GloriaMaximus · 08/10/2019 12:30

Thank you OP

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 08/10/2019 12:38

God it's a good job I live as far from the coast as I do. I would literally get nothing done ever haha. Flightradar is a lifestyle.

MangoSpice · 08/10/2019 12:41

We live on the coast and use these apps to identify the shipping we can see. Great excitement when we realised we were looking at the Queen Elizabeth!

HotChocolateLover · 08/10/2019 16:34

I don’t get it, what’s so exciting?

FilthyBiscuit · 08/10/2019 22:57

It's not for everyone HotChocolate but if you're into it then you're into it.

Yup, this. Sums up how I feel about children, for example Grin
