Can any crafty person make me a "Midna" soft toy for Christmas, please?

I hope someone can come to my rescue!

DS is mad on Zelda and his favourite character is Midna (in fact she is his imaginary girlfriend!) He has got his heart set on a plush toy for Christmas and there just aren't any out there. Sad I have seen a couple of small ones on Etsy, which are crocheted/knitted, but tbh they're not great quality.

I would have a budget of up to about £30 for this and am crossing everything that there's someone reading this who has the talent and imagination that I so sadly lack! Flowers

There is a lady on Facebook, 'Bebe ribbons' is her name and she makes toys from felt. I ordered a Numtum for my son before they could be brought from a shop. It was fab quality, she does get booked up though with lots of orders.

Thank you, I'll check her out Grin

She looks very professional, but has closed her order book for the moment. Does anyone have any other ideas as a back up?

That is an absolute pittance for the amount of work it would take

Alicenwonderland · 06/10/2019 18:06

That's a shame! I'm not sure how long until she opens her books again. ☹️

Wheeliestothecorner · 06/10/2019 18:07

Could you send her a message?

Lollygaggles · 06/10/2019 18:10

I can't see any prices on the FB page, but that's my budget for it. Hopefully someone will have a fab idea and save the day yet! Smile

As far as I know there is no official Midna plush (nintendo collector here!) but sometimes bootleg merch appears on ebay and things like Wish so might be worth trying there?

I'd agree with a PP about £30 not being enough for a custom made one though. I have a few custom polishes, the cheapest of which cost £70 before delivery.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 06/10/2019 18:13

Plushes not polishes!

Lollygaggles · 06/10/2019 18:13

Yes I'll message her in any case. Her lead time was around 8 weeks last time she mentioned it, so it might squeak in in time.

Trendy - thanks for the info. I don't think I can afford £70, but it's really helpful to know what you've paid.

OP I wouldn't get your hopes up for a quality toy 30 pounds. Say it takes about 7-8 hours to make, that's less than a fiver an hour, not factoring in the materials.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 06/10/2019 18:22

Maybe look on facebook/ Google to see if there are any groups for Zelda collectors? You might get lucky if someone who has commissioned anything like this is looking to sell it on.

Also (though I'm.not sure how interested he'd be in something like this) if its "human" Midna that he likes then there are artists who customize bratz/monster high/ etc dolls. I'm not sure what kind of prices they charge but it might be cheaper than commissioning a plush?

Alicenwonderland · 06/10/2019 19:22

I messaged you back but for others I paid £22 in 2013. It was great quality, I still have it. I'll try and take a photo..I'm new to this so hopefully I can post it!!

Alicenwonderland · 06/10/2019 19:23

Here it is! Numtum number 2!

TitianaTitsling · 06/10/2019 19:29

£30 would be a little insulting I'm afraid! For a good quality, hand made toy to include all materials you'd be lucky to have change from £60 ish - you must factor in how long the thing would take to make and then postage etc

Lollygaggles · 06/10/2019 20:07

Thank you everyone for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. I love the felt Numtum, that's very cute. SmileI had seen that Midna Imp on Etsy ( which I thought looked great) but DS didn't like it. He's on the autistic spectrum, so can be quite rigid about things. It's because we haven't found anything yet online, that he's expecting Santa to make one that looks exactly like the Midna in his imagination. I think I'm going to explore all the avenues you've suggested, that's certainly an idea about customising dolls I'd never thought of Flowersand actually thinking about it I could message the Etsy seller and see whether she could make one slightly differently from what she's currently advertising, as her price is so very reasonable, then DS will think Santa's made it and hopefully all will be Merry and Bright! Phew!

Cheers all for your help and advice!
