"Get Britain Talking" 'advert' break on ITV - what do people think?

I am sure some people saw it. DS and I thought it was quite clever, although we just spent a lot of time thinking about the adverts and what they were for.

Nice idea to get people to talk. But OTOH, there were a lot of comments on Twitter from people who were reminded that it was Saturday night, they were alone and they had no one to talk to - which I know is hard as that happens to me too many times. Ironically I work in a place which helps with loneliness but I can't admit I am lonely at times.

Did people talk? Or did you hate it because it reminded you of loneliness?

I thought the idea was good. I didn’t talk because all the family were upstairs asleep (dh!) or on their phones/screens.

I guess that’s half the problem. In days gone past, the whole family would have been watching The Generation Game or Two Ronnies. Now everyone lives separate lives. Even if we put a film on, they are glancing at their phones (and me on mumsnet!).

True - DS is normally on his PS4 - so it was nice we watched it together.
