Baby wearing in cold weather

How do you keep warm? My coat doesn't cover us both. Did you buy a larger coat? Or a special baby wearing coat?

Stole DH's coat on the very worst days, but generally I found that the baby kept my front so warm that I could layer up and wear an open coat and be more than warm enough. (Also I put socks on the babys feet under the babygro, or tights if it was really cold, to.keep their feet cosy).

If you have a coat with buttons, thread elastic through buttonhole and twist round button to keep coat pulled around you over baby so that your hands are free.

Big scarf/shawl, tuck in to edges of baby avoiding face.

I used to wear DH's coat :-)

That or a scarf round him. Those were the days!

I bought a big coat that had a toggle thing around the waist to let it in / out so I could wrap it close and use the elastic to catch the button around the baby - or cinch the waist to a normal size if no baby.

Still wearing the coat now and DD started reception this year!

Also ended up with some great long line chunky knit cardigans / coatigans to layer underneath so didn't always need the big coat.

You can buy coat extenders that zip in the front if any normal zip coat and make it bigger, but you don't need a new coat or one that doesn't fit. 'Zipusin' or 'Makemybellyfit' are two that spring to mind.
