Does a big mug of tea contain double the caffeine of a small cup

If they are both made with one tea bag?

You’d think more tea = more caffeine but if the caffeine is contained in the tea bag which is the same in both cups then is the big mug of tea weaker?

I think it's like having a vodka and coke.

If you have a shot of vodka with coke in a small glass, or a shot of vodka with coke in a pint glass, you have still only had a shot of vodka.

The pint glass sized drink will just make you wee more.

So a big mug of tea has the same caffeine, assuming you squeeze the bag the same, you will just drink more liquid. The only thing increasing is the water and milk, not the caffeine.

A big mug of tea doesn’t taste noticeably weaker though. I would say it tastes the same as a small cup (i.e. delicious). Am I just kidding myself?

Based on the information above, I have a new theory.

Caffeine is tight with 'the very best of the flavour' and they tolerate 'the bulk of the flavour with health benefits'. All three combined make tea.

Sometimes caffeine and 'the very best of the flavour' are jettisoned out of tea, leaving them impoverished against 'the bulk of the flavour with health benefits'. This is called decaffeinated and it is good for you but is a poor substitute.

'The bulk of the flavour with health benefits' is teeny and can escape the teabag quicker.

Science.

I love this theory.

Decaf tea is the most disappointing thing known to man.
