Are loose tea leaves better than tea bags?

Thinking about trying loose tea leaves and getting a tea pot for making tea with loose tea leaves? Are they better than tea bags? Is it worth the extra cost? Any recommendations?

I have a 2 cup teapot with a tea leaf strainer in it, great little thing! I get really pissed off with certain brands of loose tea, when you come to open the packet it is literally tea dust - wtf is that all about? Clipper I'm looking at you!

I buy Duchy Organic breakfast tea in Waitrose - it is £2 something and is a delicious brew, well worth it.

I've just bought Yorkshire loose tea. Was hoping to do my bit for the environment but it still comes in that shiny packaging that isn't recycled where I live. I'm using a strainer that sits in the mug. It tastes weak even with two teaspoons of loose tea - I like strong builders tea. It's messy too but I've now got a mini bin just for tea leaves. Will persevere but not thrilled with my loose tea experience so far.

Brew Co does a good loose tea but it is a bit pricey.

So much better.

I use a stump teapot.

Yeah it's better, especially if you're drinking flavoured teas/blends.

I use a cup with a strainer built in, and a teapot that does two cups with a built in strainer- both very cheap from amazon.

Yorkshire tea don't have plastic in their teabags. I prefer it to loose tea 2 bags makes a pot, easily.

I'm thinking of going back to loose tea & I'm going to get one of those teapots that is a bit like a plunge coffee pot.
