Flight was with Thomas Cook. Holiday wasn't. Can I cancel holiday?

So booked seperatly.

Flights are cancelled obviously getting a refund via bank.

However my holiday was looked with Love holiday. Its Atol protected.

But would they allow me to cancel the holiday part now even though its unrelated to TC as now that TC have gone there are no flights to our destination.

Only indirect flights adding hours and a whole load more £££ and I don't wnat to do that with the kids. And can't afford to TBH.

Have put nearly 400 quid deposit down :(

We booked through on the beach flights with tc and separate hotel. their policy was to refund the whole lot have you looked into it with love holiday?

ThomasCookIssues · 01/10/2019 13:22

We didn't pay for flights view love holiday.

We ONLY booked the hotel.

We booked flights directly ourselves with TC.

Check whether the accomodation is cancellable, changeable or refundable.

When do you travel? If it's well into next year, the route might get taken over by another operator,

Yes, phoning Love Holiday and asking what they can do to help will be a good idea - if they're any good they'll have a dedicated 'Thomas Cook' team to help people.

If you paid for the accomodation or flights by credit card, this accomodation might count as a consequential loss that is eligible for refund due to TCs failure.

Two separate contracts, the flight cancellation is irrelevant to your hotel booking. The terms will tell you if it can be cancelled without charge or not.

Where were you going?

ThomasCookIssues · 01/10/2019 13:38

We were going to Turkey.

Summer 2020.

I'm worried the flight route won't get taken over though and I end up sinking more money into the accommodation whilst waiting.

I'll call love holidays and see if I can swap to a different pancake holiday.

Package holiday!

Though pancake holiday sounds nice 😂

Travel insurance maybe? Surely you have time to book other flights.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 01/10/2019 13:46

There are plenty of direct flights to Turkey. What are your dates and what area are you in?

ThomasCookIssues · 01/10/2019 13:53

Izmir.

11th to 21st Aug

Skyscanner says not.

I don't think so as it needs to be be booked as a package. Best to contact Love Holiday than ask strangers on the internet. Likely to be much quicker too.

coconuttelegraph · 01/10/2019 14:00

Is there a reason you can't ask the company who will tell you the answer rather than randoms who can't?

BarbaraofSeville · 01/10/2019 14:01

Ah, I see that it might be the dates that are the problem - flights don't go every day.

Can you change your accomodation dates to match available flights, or book a night or two in a hotel/B&B etc to fill the time between flights.

ThomasCookIssues · 01/10/2019 14:16

Coconut I was just asking if anyone had any experience. Calm down.
