Just a cough or asthma? Would you go to GP again?

Dd is 3.5. She is generally very healthy, nothing more than a few colds and coughs. But each time she does get a cold, it seems to go to her chest. I have taken her to the gp in the past and asked about asthma which they have said no. The last time was Christmas last year, she had a horrendous virus and I had a telephone appointment to start with, then an actual appointment 2 weeks later when she still wasn't herself. Gp confirmed it was just a particularly nasty virus doing the rounds, again no asthma. It finally went after about 6 weeks in total, and everyone I spoke to, their kids had similar over Christmas too.

But my question is, Dd has a cold again now. Raging temp overnight (which has come down with calpol) sneezing and a cough which sounds worse than it is I think! It's quite a dry hacking cough. DH is adamant it's asthma. I'm saying it's not, mainly because the gp has ruled it out on 2 occasions and the cough only seems to flare up when she already has something else (like a cold). Surely if it was asthma it would trigger at other times without the cold symptoms too.

I'm happy to take her to the gp today, we're lucky that I can usually get a same day appointment. But I really don't want to waste their time.

Dd seems fine in herself, at the moment she's moaning because I've said she can't go to nursery today.
