Part of the reason for chandler and monicas adoption storyline was because Courtney suffered recurrent miscarriages and they didn't want to make her play a pregnant Monica while going through that/possibly going through another (I thought that was lovely of the writers/creators)

Carol, Susan & Ben were based on a real family and the children of the family apparently thanked them for showing a family like theirs on mainstream tv.

I think we forget how groundbreaking and controversial it was back then. A number of states wouldn't even show the episode where carol and Susan get married.

Personally I also loved that Rachel's birth experience went on for bloody ages and was so frustrating! I had a long birth myself. I also loved that she wasn't immediately back to pre-pregnancy figure until a good few episodes after having Emma, they had her still with a bit of a tummy and bigger boobs and hips - again this was a conscious decision. I wish all tv shows did this.

The first time phoebe meets her brother she was outside the coffee shop playing and he dropped a condom in her hat then came back to ask for it back. Neither of them ever realise this but I know

The gellers are possibly the most accurate portrayal of a toxic family I've ever seen on tv, I feel sure whoever created them came from such a family.

Lisa Kudrow originally got Peri Gilpin's role (Roz the producer) in Frasier but struggled and got sacked - I believe she was in the pilot for Frasier.

I'm not sure Peri Gilpin had a role in Friends though.

Was June Whitfield the housekeeper? Richard Branson had a cameo in that episode too.
