I worked for a local authority in a temp basis and then I found another job which is permanent. It's ok but I really really enjoyed working at the local authority department. An ex colleague has emailed me letting me know that they have an apprenticeship role advertised if I wanted to apply.

I've only been in my new job for 4m. It's fine and things are going well.

I'm not sure whether to apply for the apprenticeship role. It would be a drop in salary but that wouldn't be s problem. I'm just not sure if I even have a chance of getting it. I mean I'm nearly 35, surely they'd want to give it to someone who is younger. Im scared of going through the interview process and feeling humiliated if I didn't get it.

What would you do?

Go for it. Apprenticeships aren't what they used to be. Employers can tap into funding for apprentices, so this type of role is becoming more popular.

You've got nothing to lose by going for it.

thirstyformore the thing is I'm not sure if get the job! I feel so embarrassed if I messed up the interview and didn't get the job. I find them hard as it is.

Go for it. Honestly, apprenticeships are for everyone now. If you don’t try, you’ll always wonder.

If you want it then apply for it - I'd look into what benefit the apprenticeship would have long term and factor this in.

I am a bit confused about why you would feel 'humiliated' though if you don't get it. I had an internal interview a couple of months ago I didn't get, you just have to take the risk and go for it and then dust yourself off if it wasn't meant to be. Everyone has been interviewed for jobs they didn't get including the person interviewing you Smile
