had about £100 worth of vouchers... went online to cash some in today and they've gone! been used in Southwark.. nowhere near where I live.
Spoken to Tesco and they are referring it onto fraud...
Has this happened to anyone else? Did you get them back?

I received a letter from Tesco saying it was possible some vouchers had been stolen. I rang their fraud office, spoke to a nice man who said to download my vouchers and print them. This I did, and spent them quickly, 50p had been spent in a store i have never been to, I guess trying out to see if they would be accepted.
He said a large number of peoples vouchers have gone missing, but wouldn't say how they thought it had been done.
I suspect either sorting office theft or employee of voucher distributors.

This was 5 months ago, I didn't receive the next lot of vouchers in the post, so again I downloaded them and spent quickly!

This happened to me many years ago - cleaner nabbed Tesco vouchers that I had earmarked for Legoland tickets. Not the greatest criminal mastermind in the world as used a debit card to pay and the shop records the name versus the vouchers name. I had to report to the police in order to get a reference number to get the vouchers refunded.

Nowadays they're virtual though aren't they? So I don't know how someone else could use them.

they weren't physical vouchers... someone has hacked my account and stolen them. Really hoping we get them back, I'd earmarked them for national express as my boys have just gone to uni up north..

My vouchers went to my old address and we’re used, they kindly refunded them

PancakeAndKeith · 28/09/2019 15:16

Make sure you change the password of any account that has the same password as the Tesco site.

Has happened to me twice. Both times they said they'd refer to the fraud unit. Heard nothing on either set. One of the many reasons I've stopped shopping at Tesco

lemonjumper · 28/09/2019 15:52

This happened to me years ago as well. Someone had changed the name on the clubcard account and everything - no idea why that didn't flag as suspicious at Tesco's end...

lemonjumper · 28/09/2019 15:54

*changed the name and address, I mean.

Bunnybigears · 28/09/2019 15:57

I understand about the online vouchers being taken via hacking but how do people use the stolen physical vouchers? I thought you could only use them if you had the corresponding clubcard?

WanderingMind · 28/09/2019 16:03

Happened to me. They (the hackers) changed the name on the account to a different gendered name, completely different address and had it away with £200 of vouchers.

Tesco wouldn't talk to me at first because i wasn't the name on the account, but advised me to log in, change the name back to mine, change the password (duh!) and then they could talk to me.

They said it would take 3 months to get my vouchers back but I pointed out that it was their system that got hacked not mine and they owed me my vouchers. 24 hours later they were back on my account.

lemonjumper · 28/09/2019 16:21

In my case, Tesco suggested that maybe I dropped a clubcard at some point, and that someone else picked up and used the info to get the owner details changed.

Unfortunately I was unaware for quite a while (as they didn't notify me of any change) and continued to use the clubcard to accrue points. It was only when I realised that I hadn't received any vouchers through the post for many months that I called them to find out why.

The account got changed back to my details but I never got the points back.

Ingles2 · 30/09/2019 17:50

Thanks for your messages guys.. well Tesco phoned this morning and fraud squad is involved.. my account details and password have been updated and points will be on again tomorrow. They just said, it obviously wasn’t us who’d used them but didn’t give any more info sadly (shame.. would love to know how etc)
