Best time of day for supermarket boxes?

Hi - were moving house in a couple of weeks, and hoping to get most of the boxes we need from the supermarket. What's the best time of day for these? Early morning, evening? Thanks.

Ours only really have wine boxes these days - I don't know how much help they would be for moving. Most stuff comes in in crates.
Try posting on Freecycle maybe?

Maybe just ask the supermarket what time?

LazyDaisey · 27/09/2019 07:48

I asked yesterday at Argos as I purchased on odd size Xmas item and I needed a box to wrap it in... they said they keep zero boxes - as soon as it gets delivered and unwrapped, the packaging (boxes) get taken away to a recycling centre. So my guess is at delivery time, when the store is probably closed and if you go round the back and ask nicely

Ask them to keep some aside for you. They are usually happy to keep a trolly full of flat packed ones by customer services for a day or so. If you just go by on they off chance they will have recycled them though.

We asked on our local Facebook page for packing boxes, got loads and just readvertised them when we'd unpacked. True recycling!

When l worked in a supermarket we crushed all box's after delivery. But if a customer asked we would keep them for them. Just go into your local one and ask

BeyondMyWits · 27/09/2019 08:04

Yep - local facebook pages are a good bet - people pass on decent packing boxes.

Likethebattle · 27/09/2019 08:06

When I work in a supermarket we cut the box open and they went into the crusher as there is nowhere to store them.

Do you know anyone who works in a hospital? If you ask they might be able to get you some decent ones depending on where they work etc.

Otherwise facebay/facebook as above.

Thanks for all your answers, ladies. I'll go and speak nicely to the customer service people in Morrisons tomorrow! 😊
