Itchy sores on scalp, what can I buy to make them better?

Most of my life I’ve occasionally got spots on my scalp that turn into scabs, I put this down to my acne prone skin.

Lately though I’ve been getting very itchy on my scalp and sores appearing which I pick at when I scratch, which makes them worse.

I’ve not had an easy year to say the least so I suspect it’s stress related.

Is there anything I can buy to help my scalp to heal?

TGel here, though I’ve also used Selsun in the past and it’s probably stronger. A couple of treatments usually works then just occasional use.

I find that if I use any citrus or apple scented shampoos, it gets worse.

This is going to sound odd ... I solved mine by have nail extensions. Hear me out. I thought it was my scalp but actually it was me scratching subconsciously and I can't do it with nail extensions. It's very odd but works, I had them off in the summer for a break and within a week my scalp was covered in scratches without me realising

Reporting back after trying the Moogoo (scalp cream and shampoo) and first impressions are favourable. I put the scalp cream on overnight and wash out with the shampoo next day. Its quite gentle which is good for me as harsh products are not great on my scalp. Its a bit too early to tell if its the holy grail but it's a good start.

I also use a silicone scalp massager in the shower which is good.

Agree that it could be psoriasis? I use T gel and it helps

I get this and The Body Shop ginger shampoo works really well! They sell mini bottles too so you can try for a couple of £ and haven't lost much money if it doesn't work for you

Thanks everyone. No improvement yet with the Nizoral but it is early days.

@stucknoue oh wow, that’s really interesting about the nails! Glad you got sorted. I definitely do catch myself scratching subconsciously so I’ll give that a try!

@CloudsCanLookLikeSheep thank you for coming back, hope you’ve found something that works! It’s on my list!

I appreciate all the other recommendations too and will try them all until I (hopefully) find one that works for me.
