DS has had diarriha on and off for a few days now. It seems to be mainly morning or evening but I have kept him off today so no one else catches it.
We have told him he can only have milk or water to drink but are there any food we should/shouldn't give to help speed up recovery?

Actually, no milk. As far as food is concerned, rice, carrots, chicken...

Sounds exactly what a 6 yr old wants to eat! Grin

No milk, plenty fluids as he may not want eat, but I give mine toast, rich tea biscuits and just light stuff, as anything much gave them a sore tummy.
Fluids are the most important though, and keeping them at home for 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea. I currently have a vomiting son at home lots of bugs going round

No milk. Watered down juice and squashes are fine, even flat coke/lemonade is good for a tummy bug.

They say you shouldn't avoid any foods now, just eat what the patient wants to eat.

Breastmilk is OK, but I assume you meant cow's milk at 6.

Thanks ladies.
He hasn't eaten much all weekend and has just been picking. I'll let him carry on. He is fine in himself so I am going to be mean and make him do some school work Blush

Carb rich foods are good. Would he eat soup? Toast, potato, rice, crackers, etc (along with accompaniments). Avoid spicy, fatty foods and fruit juices

Not a soup fan no. currently snacking on rice crackers.
Going to nip to the shops and see what he fancies.
