What to eat after norovirus?

Hey!

I have had the norovirus, and have finally stopped being sick this morning, I fancy something refreshing to eat, like fruit or a fruit ice lolly? Any suggestions on ideas that won't upset my stomach, also what to have for a drink? I don't drink hot drinks! Thank you all so much!

Whatever you fancy!

I would go for fairly bland food first - toast and scrambled egg, white fish, rice etc, and avoid anything that is too acid (citrus fruits, fruit juice). You want things that are easy to digest too, so not too high in fibre.

Not sure if BRAT had gone out of fashion (Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) these things allow the gut to rest the most.

Personally I cannot abide bananas and am not sure about the 'apple sauce' part?

I'd stick to dry, plain food and avoid dairy.

Poor you. I've had that and it's horrendous. I'd suggest something bland and not strong smelling just to see if you can stomach it. So mashed potato, or a jacket potato perhaps? For a drink - I'd stick to water for now. You really need to re-hydrate yourself.

Anything you like as long as it dairy free. A short period of lactose intolerance is common (and not fun from personal experience) after noro.

Agree with Anna you are lactose intolerant for a while after noro, the last thing you want is to extend the upset stomach!

Thank you all so much, i really fancy a twister ice lolly, strawberries and melon and a jelly! But presume that's not a good idea?

I'm sipping on flat lemonade
