Given up booze... Now the Friday itch is here...

Hi all,

I need a distraction!

I only used to drink Fridays, but I wanted to break the habit. I gave up 3wks ago but every Friday (I gave up for 3 months last year, then drank Fri to Sun for a few months, then cut down to once a week) I'm fighting the urge. It's worse at wkends like....

Is anyone else battling with the cutting down or tee total route?

Me too. I’ve given up before but find the first couple of weeks the hardest. I find once I’ve done a couple of weeks I’m better as I don’t want to break my streak. I’m planning on drinking tonic water tonight and pretending it has a gin in it. We can do it.

Yep, know the feeling. Sparkling water in a wine glass is helping me through that ‘itch’ tonight.

Otherwise distract and do something you wouldn’t normally do at the time when you most want it - housework, watch a tv programme, read, etc.

It doesn't help that DP is comfy on the sofa with a glass of red....!
I have no booze in the house which helps and I'm stubborn enough to have a Sober September and aiming to do October too.
You can do it too.

Think of your better night's sleep tonight and clearer head tomorrow morning. Alcohol wrecks my sleep these days.

I'm looking forward to feeling fresh, planning on a good gym trip as I'll be able to get a hangover free workout in xx

I stopped drinking nearly 4 years ago, and I often treat myself to a really decent bar of chocolate for the weekend.

Chocolate, tea and a good movie.

Whilst I do miss drinking a bit and am probably far less social than I was because of it. I love love love never waking up feeling sluggish. Ever.

Im getting side effects such as tiredness when I go booze free. Goes to show what the body goes through to heal xx
