Which companies would advertise graduate roles in Genetics?

Ds is in his final year of a 3 year Genetics and Molecular Biology degree. He is struggling to find companies that are advertising roles in his field. He would like to go into Genetics research either in a Company, University or NHS.
Anybody know where these type of roles would be advertised? Any specific web sites or company sites he should be looking at?
We live in the midlands but he knows he may have to relocate, so location not an issue.
Anybody any advise please?
Many thanks.

Life tech companies? Antibody companies? Drug Discovery companies? I work in this field and would suggest those sorts of areas.

I'd look over this list here and go directly to the company pages in the areas that are interesting to him. :)

Pharmaceuticals?
Food? - Monsanta?

Cancer research, BHF, all the medical research charities are doing lots of work on genetics.

Huntington Life Sciences and other bioscience companies around Cambridge
Leicester University or Leicester Royal Infirmary
Open University
Oxford University
John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford (they do genetics research in partnership with Oxford Uni)

Does his course have a list of where graduates went?
Has he googled careers in genetics? I’d start with working out what he wants to do and then set up a search on Glassdoor or similar.

PullingMySocksUp · 19/09/2019 16:17

Actually I think he needs some careers advice from his university. Get him to use it while he can.

I am surprised that uni haven't already started to discuss this, but this may be worth a look. I have drilled it down to the specialisms offered, and but there is lots more information to find on the website...

I can be of no help, alas, but the very thought of careers in genetics has me muttering
"Beware geneticists! With their craziness and hybrid monster fantasies
Beware! The things they do...they're geneticising monsters with genetic glue"

If he goes onto indeed and does a job search, you can just put keywords in...so that's a good place to start.

GSK has recently indicated its investing in genetics - worth looking at their corporate website. However, agree with PP - university should have assistance on career options!

Teenytinyvoice · 19/09/2019 18:04

What do you mean by genetics? Medical genetics is different to the kind of work done by pharma companies. But pp is right GSK is making a big investment, and the jobs will be at Stevenage

Thank you all so much for your help, plenty to look into here, much appreciated all.
