Are party bags still a thing when you are 11?

DD's decided she wants a disco for her birthday (which is great coz my brothers a DJ and I have a hall I can use cheaply)

I'll have glowy stuff, drinks and sweets for them during the disco and a bit of cake but do we need party bags too?

and if so what would you put in them?

For my DDs 12th (all girl guests) we put flower headbands, mini bath bombs, mini squishies, mini nail varnish, packet of sweets and lip gloss into organza bags. They seemed to be popular.

I wouldn’t say it’s necessary to give party bags at that age, though.

I think for a big disco probably not necessary but lots of kids will expect them!

Just do sweet cones?

I just had a big party for an 11 year old and gave out sweet cones (just to get rid of them all at home time!)

I gave out mini succulents for DD's 11th.
They didn't need plastic bits, books or stationery. If her birthday was earlier in the year I'd have given out flower seed bombs.

Party bags within my kids classes/friendship groups have usually stopped around 9/10. The only one I can remember getting a bag past that age was a girl took about 6 friends to the cinema for her 11th birthday and handed out mugs with the kids initials on them and a hot chocolate/marshmallow mix in it. It was lovely but unexpected at that age.

No party food?

DD had a big disco for her 11th and we didn't give out party bags just some cake. Figured there were too many of them and they were getting a bit too old for it so didn't bother. A few of them escaped with the blow up guitars and microphones we'd bought for the photobooth though Grin
