Glasgow academy or High school of Glasgow

Posted this in Education but no responses so adding here for traffic:

We plan to move to the Bearsden/Milngavie area of Glasgow in time for start of summer term 2020. We will visit both schools but looking for other feedback on them too please. Would love to hear views, good or bad.

The reputation that they have is that High School is for the smart rich kids and Accies is for the rich but dim kids - generations of them. Both got great facilities and I’m sure that the teaching is good.

Is your child academic and would they thrive in a hothouse atmosphere or would you prefer something less pressured?

My DC are primary age so I’m honestly not sure - both bright, though DC2 seems more naturally academic and team-sporty. Both pretty confident and sociable children.

So you’re not even considering the academies you’ll be in the catchment area for?
