Where would you fly from Bristol for short break?

My parents very kindly agreed that we could leave the kids with them between Christmas and New Year for a few days whilst we go for a little child free trip (3 nights).

We'd fly from Bristol. Where should we go?

Nothing too far away (flight not much more than 2 hours preferably). It'll have to be one of the destinations where flights are available on both Fridays and Mondays since we won't have any flexibility squeezing this in between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve. Not Copenhagen, Berlin or Barcelona as we've already been and would like to try somewhere new!

I live in Bristol and would probably go Belfast like pp

Not a great time of year weather wise though not sure anywhere would be great

Do you need to fly somewhere?

stucknoue · 15/09/2019 22:03

I would stay in the U.K. - look on group on for a 3 day hotel package or just stay home in your child free house!

Paddington68 · 15/09/2019 22:06

Nice?
Or stay at home, without the kids.

Marking place - I went through the destination list a few months ago and marked flights that were easily doable on a long weekend from Bristol, but it’s on my work laptop.

Will post them tomorrow if interested!

We don't live in the UK, though I am British. Of course we don't need to fly somewhere but we fancied something a bit special as this is a rare opportunity and we'd also be celebrating a milestone birthday for my DP.
I suppose we could stay in the UK and get the train but that's not really what we want to do.

Thanks for the recommendations! I would never have considered Belfast in all honesty but will definitely check it out now!

If you go to Belfast I recommend the Titanic museum. The bus tours, the prison ( can’t remem the name.
The Crown bar and Ginger bistro.
We did a long weekend there and it was great. Shuttle bus from airport to city centre. Couldn’t have been any easier
