Recommend me films for 9/10 year olds

I need to download some for a long journey. DS likes things with a bit of action. I am ok with 12A depending on why - if it’s really quite scary I’m not so keen. His younger brother (7) might watch too, so I wouldn’t allow something like Revenge of the Sith due to the gory scene.
Any recommendations?

Drop Dead Fred!
The Mummy (Brendan Fraser version)
Night at the Museum 1,2+3
Top Secret (old Val Kilmer film)
Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
Willow (more Val Kilmer!)

I realise I'm stuck in 1991.... Grin

I LOVE all those films. I am also stuck in an 80’s /90’s loop. I would need to convince him of their classic status I think, since he’ll never have heard of them 😂

There seems to be a dearth of films which are not either franchises, too young or too old

'Fly Away Home' (1996) starring a young Anna Paquin.
My DCs loved this movie when they were 9-10.
It might be nice to show a movie with a female lead around their age.
Good plot, plenty of emotional intelligence, and excellent ultralight aircraft flying adventure scenes.

'A Christmas Story' - even good in September.

We watched Back to the Future last night, it was a lot more disturbing than I remembered 🙈 swearing, shooting, casual potential incest. Still loved it ha.

pimbee · 14/09/2019 09:22

I'm sure you've done these but we're going through Marvel and DC universes atm and Star Wars. He's watched some when younger but old enough to understand it better now. Oh and he's obsessed with transformers.

Is Indiana Jones too scary?

Flight of the Navigator - a true classic for kids!

The Goonies, ditto.
