HElp! Childcare funding...going back to work...heads in a spin with it all

So I’ve been out the job world for almost a decade and suddenly have a job offer, but I’m finding it really hard to get my head round it all!
Just discovered tonight that the 30hr funding has to be applied for the term before the child is three, so I’ve missed the boat on that one and wouldn’t get the extra 15hrs now till jan as far as I understand. I’ve been putting various hours and childcare costs through “entitled to” calculator and I’m even more confused now.... when I was assuming the use of 30hrs funding, it would make me £182 pw better off after paying the childcare costs, I then put in the cost to cover the 15 I’d be missing till jan and even after childcare costs id be £300 pw better off(same hours worked, same hours needed at childcare) it’s basically increased the CTC slightly instead of decreasing it......can’t work out if this is correct?! And does that mean I should forget about claiming the other 15hrs as I’m better off with just 15 funded ones and paying for the rest?? Seems bizarre

Another question, I know you can stretch funding across the yr if your provider allows, but how do you account for extra costs during school hols? For example school age childcare in term time will cost me £12 a week, but in the hols all day childcare is likely to be £160 ish a week, do I just times that by the number of holiday weeks and divide by 52? And add that number onto weekly childcare costs?

It’s making my brain hurt trying to get my head around it all! Any help would be massively appreciated!

What month is/was your child 3? All 3 yr olds are entitled to 15 funded hours the term after they are 3.
Depending on your child’s age, you could apply for the 30 hours this term and get them from January.

Yes she gets the 15hr 3 yr funding now, it’s just the 15 extra hrs from jan that I’m confused about as calculator seems to suggest I’m better off without applying for the extra 15hrs?!

IE tax credits covering it rather than the 15 extra free hrs

I can't see how you'd be better off with tax credits over the funding because I think the TC only contribute max 70% of your childcare costs so those 'free' hours should be worthwhile.
