Oil stains on unvarnished wooden floors - please help!

I’ve managed to spill a bottle of baby oil on my unvarnished wooden floors and can’t seem to get them out - have tried water with Fairy liquid as well as white spirit and nothing seems to be working.

YouTube hasn’t been much help - I’m thinking I might need to get the hand sander out

Does anyone have any foolproof methods?!

no expert but the best bet may be oiling the rest of the floor! Presume it’s an oiled floor if it isn’t varnished or lacquered?

Their is a polisher in b and q. It's about 20 a bottle. Works fab but not sure if it will help on unpolished floor 😩!! I had the Victorian wood in my old house an it kept it in mint condition but really don't think their is much you can do x

I have found something on google. You need to make a mixture of soap flake water and kaolin clay (porridge consistancy) spread it thick on the stain and let it dry. Hoover when dried up. Sorry I can't link, it is a Danish site .
If no kaolin, they suggest potato starch as substitute.

Don't know if it will work, when oil goes into wood you can potentially sand all way through the board before it is gone, so this is worth a try.

I’ve seen fullers earth recommended for this. Maybe try again with the white spirit? I spilt a bottle of olive oil on our unvarnished floor and white spirit helped a lot and the rest has just improved over time (or the rest of the floor has got stained too).

I’ll give the white spirit another go - Arf did you rub it in neat or dilute? Did you use wire wool or just a cloth and elbow grease?!

So annoyed with myself!
