My dd is having surgery next week and to cheer her up, we’ve said she can have a present.

Ah crap wrong button!!!

Sorry

Anyway in Argos she’s seen the designafriend dolls, and they look ok but I wondered if they might be too cheap.

I know the our generation dolls are popular but I wondered if they were actually worth the money

Thank you

DD has both brands and I'd say go with Our Generation. I wouldn't be a designafriend again just because their legs go weird instead of staying sturdy like OG dolls.

We have both and American Girl Dolls ( but they'll completely blow your budget lol).
The DF ones are smaller and slimmer (and prettier imo) than the OG, ours are packed away now as DD only plays with her American dolls, otherwise I'd take you a comparison photo. But there will be comparison videos on You tube, as people (like my DD) are really into this stuff.

The OG dolls have a cloth body, the DFs are all plastic, the hair is nicer on the OG dolls and the OG dolls accessories and clothes are better quality. Although we do have a fab DF bed.
The one thing I really didn't like about the DF dolls, especially when DD was smaller is that the clothes were very tight fitting and can be difficult to get on and off. We bought underwear for the DF dolls and found the clothes wouldn't fit over ! The DF clothes won't fit the OG dolls.
I much prefer the OG dolls, but I guess it depends on how much your daughter is into dolls. We do have a very nice boy DF, he has a 6 pack lol.

I prefer the Argos Design a friend dolls. They are lovely and have a nice range of clothes.
I hope your daughter gets well soon and enjoys her doll.

DD has OG dolls and they are really lovely. The hair stays nice and as PP says there are lots of high quality accessories. Ours don't have a cloth body I don't think, they can stand up. She's 7 now and still plays with them a lot.

Do check out the website for offers, they often have special deals on.

DD had both and much prefers the OG dolls, I've recently donated the DF ones to the charity shop as they were sat in the toy box all of the time not getting played with whereas she's always playing with the OG ones.

You can buy proper OG clothes for them which are lovely and make for easy gift suggestions when grandparents, etc. ask what to get DD for birthdays/Christmas but I got a bag of baby clothes down from the attic a few weeks ago and DD has taken all of the Tiny Baby sized things as they fit the OG dolls.

You can also but cheap clothes for them on ebay which fit the OG dolls better as DAF dolls are slimmer.

They are both very pretty though and I'm sure she will love whichever she gets.

Thank you. I was leaning towards the OG simply because they looked better quality.

She just saw one of the DF dolls has the same name as her which is why I think she liked the idea.

But there does seem to be a lot more variety of the OG dolls
