DS got something in his ear - A&E now or wait til the morning for GP?

Sorry - posting here for traffic.

I gave 3yr old DS a little star sticker for being so good before bedtime. Half an hour later and he calls me up sobbing, he pushed it into his ear and it's stuck 🤦🏻‍♀️ Looked with a torch, I can't see it at all. He's pretty positive it's in there, and seems in a bit of pain. I gave him Calpol and sent him back to bed, with the plan to ring GP/take him to A&E (it's literally next door) tomorrow morning.

However I then googled, and it says things stuck in ear can cause infection/ hearing loss if not removed. Does that apply if I get it removed tomorrow? Like, does it have to be dealt with tonight? Single parent with a 5yr old & a baby, and don't fancy waking the other two and spending a night in A&E unless it's a necessity.

few drops of olive oil will help ease it out.
It is not a life threatening matter for A&E.

GP would be more appropriate

tomorrow will be soon enough, and I would not be the first to mention it either....see if he says anything about it, don't remind him.

Hopefully a doctor will be along to reassure, but my gut feeling is a night’s wait will be OK. My only worry would be if it’s gone so far in it’s punctured his ear drum... I’d call 111 for guidance really.

Thanks all. He woke up this morning and was adamant it was still stuck and still hurt, and pointed to the same ear as last night. Took him to the GP, and she said nothing in there except wax! So very glad I didn't wake them all for an A&E trip now!
