Hysterical baby after 8 week vaccinations

DS has his 8 week vaccinations this afternoon and was fine after. However for the past two hours he has screamed at the top of his lungs, not crying but hysterical screaming. It sounds like he's losing his voice from how high pitched the scream is. He's thrown up the calpol. He's inconsolable. I'm on the verge of ringing 111, but is this normal? I didn't expect it to be this brutal.

Gave him a bath which has settled him a little. He then breastfed for 50 mins (usually only feeds for 10 mins!) and threw the whole thing up. Think he just wanted the comfort. He's got his dummy now and having lots of cuddles. Hoping that's the end of it!

His stomach is making some interesting noises so maybe there'll be a big poop soon.

Thanks all

DD was the same, lots of comfort feeding, skin to skin and the sling. It was the only thing to calm her. I had no top on and she was in a nappy for the sling, keep them close to you. We had a rough night but she was fine the next day.

DS was like this with rota I actually ran to my mother's I didn't know what to do with him, second rota was not as bad but still not good so be prepared next time. We just had to wait it out none of the usual stomach stuff I had for colic helped

Interesting to hear that the 2nd Rotavirus wasn’t so bad. I didn’t give my baby the 2nd dose because of how badly he reacted to the 1st. Possibly a mistake as he’s going to nursery and full blown Rotavirus would of course be worse than the vaccination.

When mine were babies medical advice was any continuous crying for more than an hour at such a young age needs checking.

Please remember the 8 week vaccinations have changed considerably over the years with the addition of the rotavirus (known to cause stomach upset and vomiting/diarrhoea) and Men B (known to cause high temp)vaccines.

How is baby this morning OP?
