Blemish on face. Skin cancer?

Just wondering if anyone has had a sudden blemish appear on their skin and it's turned out to be nothing....or something.

I'm waiting for an appointment to get it checked but a reddish blemish appeared on my face earlier this year (looking back through photos it appeared in February). It has got slightly bigger and darker and is now very slightly raised. It's below my eye sort of where the bottom of my glasses sits.

Getting a bit worried now and just wondering if anyone has had any experiences of this and how it turned out? I'm late 30s if that is relevant.

Thanks

I got a weird raised bump in my late thirties. Turned out to be granuloma faciale. Very rare in women but completely harmless.

It's a bit annoying but I'm used to it now. Can't be bothered to get laser. Just see your GP...our practice had one that specialised in dermatology but wasn't a derm if you know what I mean. Ask...yours might too...better than worrying!

They did make me have a biopsy...I didn't like that at all but the peace of mind was good! It's probably nothing OP.

I had similar and it was a nasal cell carcinoma. It had to be removed but it was fine.

If yours needs to be removed they may use cream or decide to cut it out. If they’ve any to cut it, make sure they do the procedures that will be best cosmetically. This is likely to be mohs, but not all derms offer that.

Basal not nasal!

It’s worth getting checked out (and pressing for a referral - GPs in the UK don’t seem to be very aware of skin cancer ime). If you start to feel any pain from it don’t be alarmed but see a dermatologist ASAP.

Could be something or nothing but you’ve done the right thing getting it checked, FWIW from a relatives experience, it’s worth digging out pictures of when it first appeared so they can see any changes

Thanks for the replies. Just telling myself it's probably nothing. I'll find some pics. There was nothing there at Xmas but it's very noticeable now

I think that any change is worth getting checked out. Fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about.

Thanks. I've got an appointment next week. Trying to forget about it until then. Can't help worrying!

How strange. I have the same thing in the same place. I must get it checked out.

My partner just went to get something like this checked out and the GP wasn't worried about it at all (I had been). Said due to small size etc he wouldn't even refer it on. We will keep an eye on it though!
