So!
The situation is this:
iPhone SE bought almost 3 years ago, current iOS on phone is 9.3.4
Last iCloud update March 2017! (Nope not kidding!)
I'm housebound, I don't own or have access to a laptop or computer and can't got to Apple Store.
I've just had to email "myself" all my precious photos I don't want to lose.
WRITE down contacts I can't lose and calendar info too...
Because Apple have been unable to help me backup to iCloud. They're now closed for day.
Thought I'd bite the bullet and try and update anyway, update available is 10.2.1 Apple said to get to latest old I would need to do 2 or 3 updates, fair enough...
But...tried to do update, first time it said not connected to Internet (I absolutely am and strong signal too DO NOT want to be messing with router!)
Tried again a couple more times...wee clock timer showing SOMETHING happening for a while...then nothing!
Mobile service provider were also stumped (I didn't necessarily expect them to be able to help but you never know, sometimes you end up speaking with someone who HAS come across your problem before) and all they could offer was a troubleshooter link and a suggestion to master reset.
Oh wise mners who are almost ALL a damn sight more technical than me these days (used to be good at this stuff
) what are your thoughts on the whole mess? Would a master reset completely crash phone or could it mean it's fixed? (While I spend the next week probably re-downloading apps, inputting contacts one at a time and recovering photos and TRYING to get my games and apps back to where they should be)
I could honestly cry at this point!
It's looking like I might have to arrange to buy a new phone even though I LOVE this one and at the moment MOST things are still working (but the things that aren't are pretty essential unfortunately)
I wish they'd make a phone that just LASTED. I HATE all the palava that comes with updates and new phones - even more so as I get older.
I just want a device that works and keeps working - apparently too much to ask.
I have a horrible feeling I may need to buy new phone - kicking myself but also wondering if iPhone SE is just obsolete by this point anyway?
