How often do you buy new shoes for your kids?

Mine is only just walking and already growing out of everything I buy! Or losing them 🤦 Tell me the worst... Am I going to be spending all my wages on a new pair every month??

My youngest whenever they get to small or look scruffy. My two boys (7&8) get new school shoes, pumps and trainers at the start of each school year and last all year.

Approximately once a year. Maybe twice a year when very small.

Orangecake123 · 10/09/2019 13:59

When I was a child it was one pair a year.

My brother's friend would get two pairs.

Spam88 · 10/09/2019 14:02

Clarks advise getting them measured every 6 weeks. My DD is on her 4th pair (I think) and has been walking 15 months. She outgrew pair 3 ridiculously quickly 😑

Whenever they grow out of them.

CroissantsAtDawn · 10/09/2019 14:06

When a toddler, every 4/6 months depending on growth.

From 4, maybe once a year.

Though I'm assuming it'll more than that once puberty hits.

The first few years after ds started wearing proper shoes, I seemed to buy them every 6-8 weeks. I kept a credit card just for shoes.Grin

They do settle down eventually and at primary school it was 1-2 a year.

mindutopia · 10/09/2019 14:08

It totally depends on how old they are. When they were little, maybe every 6-9 months. It's very worth it to get them properly fitted so that you get the most out of the size you buy. Now that they are older, I can stretch a pair to about a year.

Every 4-6 months for 2yo DD. But - I just buy Clarks/Start-Rite in the sales in a few larger sizes and stash them, and I've gotten a few lightly worn pairs from friends. I can't understand why you'd buy them full price unless it was an emergency.

perarduacumestrus · 10/09/2019 14:23

Under 3 - 3 months
4 - 15 - 6 months
15 + a lot of shoes lasted 2 years ( other than school shoes that got wrecked)
Now at 17, DD has too many pairs. Grin

Around every 6m for DS (he's 3.5)
They are usually ruined before they are outgrown.

MT2017 · 10/09/2019 17:08

DS1 (age 17) is men's size 13.

So as rarely as possible Grin
