Circling what you wanted for Christmas (typewriters and tacky gold jewellery for me Xmas Grin )

When I was a kid in the 80s the new Argos catalogue was a massive cause for celebration. Me and my brothers would draw up a rota to read it, especially the winter/Christmas ones.

The prices though, especially for the tech stuff! Madness.

If you fancy 'translating' the prices.

The ordeal of committing to just one big thing.
Not knowing what others were getting so you couldn't follow the crowd.
Anguish if you needed a scalextrix and sindy swimming pool.
We grew up hard.

Best one for me was the one from 96, we had just moved into our first home and basically furnished/equipped it from Argos! Summer Meadow kitchen anyone? Smile

I looked at some of the 70's/80's ones too, so much I recognise, at least I know where all my relatives shopped.

I had so many toys from the 1979 issue. I was obviously so bloody spoilt!

Thanks for the link to retromash OP. Great idea for a website!

Thanks - this is great.

I got my first Walkman from Argos. Best pressie I ever had.

Not forgetting the bling... a gold signet ring and a locket in the 80s. I was the height of sophistication Grin
