BBC on catch up. You can kiss your license fee goodbye.

Wow, how I championed you.

Grown-up telly, free-to-air.

But... how much I resent your 'who are you?' Prove it! 'What gender are you?' Hmm? ' ... 'you have already registered with that email, so fuck off!'

You can fuck off, BBC.

You have utterly failed to read 'telly land'. I pay my license fee. As I am legally bound to do. What you can do is to enter the 21st century.

Why do you need my metrics, every sodding time I want to sit down and listen to last week's Motown show, on R2?

At least all the commercial channels who want to harvest my data know why; you, BBC, just make me cross. I pay you, you know who I am.

Do your job.

I don't think they're reading this.....

Caramelblonde · 07/09/2019 23:37

Totally agree!

SarahAndQuack · 07/09/2019 23:42
Confused

What are you talking about?

Miljah · 07/09/2019 23:43

Venger I bet they have someone on MN surveillance! If they haven't, they're missing a trick.

I am sick to death at having to sign on, password, confirm- all that bollox, to watch or listen to something I have, via my license fee, already paid for.

Just allow me to open it and listen to it. Sky would recognise that I'd paid, why can't the BBC?

I don't pay a license fee, I watch no BBC channels, no catch up etc... I only have Netflix and prime. I am continually harrased.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 07/09/2019 23:51

I’ve been asked to login once 4 months ago and not been asked to since.....

Maybe your doing something wrong??

SpoonBlender · 07/09/2019 23:53

I don't have any trouble with iPlayer forgetting me on my computers, iPad, phone, LG and Samsung TVs, playstation, or xbox...

Using a web browser? You should look at your settings - you've probably changed it to trash all cookies and/or not save passwords. You should exclude the iplayer website from that.

Through an app on phone/tablet/TV? Find the settings and make sure it saves your user+pass.

Cohle · 08/09/2019 00:00

I logged in once about a year ago and it's never asked me since...

I do think it's a little weird to try and address the BBC on MN. They have a very straightforward complaints form - why not actually let them know your concerns?

ssl.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/?lang=en&reset=&uid=434649331

drsausage · 08/09/2019 02:29

Um even I can get into iPlayer without problems, and I'm in the US on a SmartDNS system.

RebootYourEngine · 08/09/2019 03:51

I think you are maybe doing something wrong. As someone above said maybe check settings.

I have logged in once on my Roku box and whenever I want to watch something on iPlayer I just click on my name and it takes me straight to the home page. No need for username or password.

CodenameVillanelle · 08/09/2019 04:01

I think this is a settings issue because iPlayer doesn't routinely do this.

Gingerkittykat · 08/09/2019 04:30

You're having a rant because you are having to log into a website. Talk about first world problems.

RezCowgirl · 08/09/2019 06:42

Give them a random email and postcode. They don't check with a verification email.

Although they don't accept sw1a 1aa anymore.

@Auntyfannybaws
Are you watching Netflix and prime on a tablet or in a television? My understanding is that even if you go nowhere near BBC channels, you're supposed to pay a license fee if your device (TV) is capable of receiving / playing BBC. It's a grey area with tablets but I know that if you use a tablet to watch iPlayer, it does ask if you have a license the first time.

KatherineJaneway · 08/09/2019 07:03

BBC does not ask you to sign in everytime you use iplayer. It is likely your setting or your software that is causing an issue.

Anyway once you've recovered from the wine🍷check your settings and it should get resolved.

Auntyfannybaws · 08/09/2019 07:33

It's on a Tele but we have no means of recieving live TV. IV even let the guy in before to eat him see this. I'm still getting threatening letters.

Auntyfannybaws · 08/09/2019 07:34

I did not eat him Blush I let him see tv

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 08/09/2019 07:38

You're not legally bound to buy a TV license just to listen to the radio on catch-up
