How would you choose to celebrate your 50th birthday?

I don’t mean presents!

How would you celebrate? A big party? Or ... ????

I just don’t know what to plan for mine. Old school / uni friends are already starting to organise their party / holiday but I just don’t know what I’d like to do. But I don’t what to do nothing and then regret it.

We could manage a party / city break / nice holiday.

I’m keen on experiences and an hour north of London.

Not sporty at all and not keen on spa days. Food and drink are my favourite hobbies!

Factors to consider are (1) it’s in January (sob) and (2) I have DCs doing GCSEs and A levels this year so I’m thinking a holiday over Feb half term / Easter / May half term is just a potential nightmare.

What would you do?!

I would love to be inspired. Thank you!!!

Thank you. Hope you have an amazing time whatever you choose to do. Thanks

I’m not a party person at all, so I would have a weekend away in a posh hotel somewhere nice with DP, just the two of us, including dinner in a Michelin starred restaurant.

I’d like to go away to a bucket list country. Like Japan, Iceland or Hawaii. The family will want to come too

If you like food. I’d plan a week somewhere where you could dine at maybe 3x Michelin star restaurants through the week.

Best places in Europe to visit in January: London, Paris, Florence (for short museum lines); Sicily, Crete, Southern Spain (for good weather)

This for me too... but I am in Australia, so it's an extra special trip.

Also a January birthday and will have a 17yo about to start his final year of high school at the same time. Tricky logistics - but I am already planning about 2.5 years out.

Some fab ideas on this thread. I have mentally added subsidising an indulgent lunch with closest friends for the upcoming Fiesta de Ukelele 🤓😁.

I went to Edinburgh for 5 days, Feb half term.
