Have there ever been multiple threads about a RL situation by both sides of the story?

I just wonder how many times two threads are each telling the side to an actual scenario, ever recognised yourself or something obvious here on MN?

No but I’m shamelessly placemarking as now I’m curious

LoseLooseLucy · 05/09/2019 19:19

I'd instantly not believe it if there were two threads each telling their own side of a story 😬

Is have thought with all of the posts “changed name as too outing” someone Must’ve at some point recognised the real story? Sometimes I fear my posts will get recognised!

Has anybody ever come on to a thread after they recognised themself to say "that is not how it happened".

Surprisingly rare really!

Mabelface · 05/09/2019 20:01

I've come across a thread about me that was bollocks. Got it deleted and changed my name.

x2boys · 05/09/2019 20:35

There was one recently wasent there about a mum and ( step ) mum telling two different sides of the story of a dad spending 1: 1 time with his son ,if for the same people very similar !

x2boys · 05/09/2019 20:37

The thing is as with an thread the op.will only tell their side ,if people heard the other side the answers might be very different!

NoUsernamesILike · 05/09/2019 20:38

I have often wondered this too, though like pp I would doubt if it was real if they were posted at the same time

JesusHRooseveltChristAgain · 05/09/2019 20:46

Mabelface did you give your version of events on the thread before it was deleted? Just wondering how MNHQ know that someone requesting a thread be deleted because it's about them are actually genuine?

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 05/09/2019 20:51

There was one when I first started using MN so maybe 4 years ago where supposedly the stepmum appeared and it descended into a bun fight. Something about political canvassing. Maybe the BNP were involved?

Mabelface · 06/09/2019 09:41

No I didn't. I didn't want to wash my dirty linen in public.

Aaarrgghhh · 06/09/2019 11:17

I always wonder how people know. And how did you get mumsnet to delete it if there was no proof? Unless it was very detailed etc.

similarminimer · 06/09/2019 15:04

There was a hoohah once with someone complaining about a group who had horribly-behaved children land eft loads of food on the floor in Pizza Express in Putney it somewhere. And a member of the messy group came on to defend their darlings.

There was a thread a while ago where a woman was complaining about a cheeky fucker who was trying to effectively hold her child’s birthday party at the OP’s child’s birthday party, like saying their family would come too and they’d bring a cake for their child, and telling school friends it was a joint party when it wasn’t and they weren’t contributing.

Then the alleged cheeky fucker mum started a new thread denying it all, and the original OP confessed they’d “elaborated” the story.

I remember a thread where a woman was complaining about a child at an activity at a NT type place who was taking over the activity and made the op's child cry so she left.

The woman in question came on saying that the op and her dc had caused some of the issues, that she had tried to be friendly etc but that the woman stormed off.

I went to a food festival just before the summer holidays and got into a bit of an argument with a woman who kept knocking my chair as I was eating my sandwich. I asked her to stop and she shouted at me. I kept an eye out for a thread about it and would have loved to have jumped in to give my side but there wasn't one!
