Has anyone else had this? Bleeding after sex since smear.

I had my last smear at the end of July, got the results a couple of weeks later, they were clear, so all good! However, since my smear I've been bleeding after sex. It started off as just a bit of brown discharge and a tiny bit of light cramping, but last night we DTD and afterwards I had bright red blood and almost painful cramps.

I've been to see the GP this morning and he was brilliant, I was half expecting him to fob me off with a 'womens problems' type answer but he took me very seriously, he has made an appointment for me to see the nurse for triple vag swabs on Monday, with strict instructions for the nurse to call him down to her room when I arrive for my appointment as he wants to look at my cervix (he said there was no point me stripping off twice so he may as well wait til Monday to take a look). He has also referred me for a pelvic scan and he said if he's not happy with the results from that he'll then refer me for a colposcopy.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar? It just seems very odd that this bleeding has only started since my smear test! And somewhat ironically, I didn't bleed or cramp at all after the smear itself!

Could be a cervical erosion. But good you are getting checked out and doing it quickly.

No idea but I’m going through similar right now. Smear overdue as nurse couldn’t manage it. Had pelvic scan and was told at end nothing to overly worry about (so I’m taking that as no tumour) but still having bleeding and to be honest can’t have sex as too painful. So clearly something isn’t right. Back to gp next week for smear and look st things and discuss scan results.

Hope they find out what is wrong.

So I've been for my swabs today, the Dr was overrun with patients so he couldn't come and look. But the nurse had a good look and she said it looks like a large ectropion (fancy word for erosion according to Google). She disappeared to talk to the Dr about it and she came back with a follow up appointment with the Dr for next week, by which point my swab results should be back. It's great that they're being so thorough, but at the same time it worries me slightly that they are being so thorough Confused

About 10 years ago I was bleeding after sex. It got progressively worse. I had all sorts of scans and swabs.

Finally managed to get an appointment with a female dr who examined me. Pushed on one side inside me and then the other asking if it hurt. When I said no she concluded cervical erosion. After all that!

So I had a colposcopy. Straight forward simple procedure. Slightly uncomfortable afterwards but not too bad at all and I’ve had no problems since.

The nurse probably just wants to double check with the dr. If your smear results were fine I wouldn’t worry.

I’ve just had my follow up with gp. Booked for smear next week and she’ll take swabs too and have a good look while she’s there.

Good they are being thorough - better than having it fobbed off as “women’s problems”

Good luck @KatzP, I hope it goes well!
