Which hair straighteners do I want?

lucysmam · 04/09/2019 21:15

My straighteners died this morning (ghd - not overly thrilled with them so not fussed about repairing them) just as I was getting ready for back to work

I can't decide which to buy. I was looking at the ones in the picture earlier but wondered what else folks would recommend?

Tia :)

I like my cloud 9’s. They were recommended on here as a good ghd swap.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 04/09/2019 21:18

Cloud 9’s for sure

BayandBlonde · 04/09/2019 21:23

I was always a GHD fan, until I got my Cloud 9's. I'm converted Smile

I've seen a lot of people like Cloud 9's. Ioved my original ghd's, just not this particular pair, they just never felt right :(

I'll go and have another look at Cloud 9 :)

Ive got both ghd and cloud nine, both are excellent but I think that I do prefer cloud nine. They seem to glide through the hair easier and not so chunky to handle in my opinion.

SleepyKat · 04/09/2019 21:28

Cloud 9, much better than my ghd.

OUwhatnext · 04/09/2019 21:30

I swear by my Remingtons! Miles better than the "new" ghds.

Mixingitall · 04/09/2019 21:35

I have super thick hair and a lot of it. I replaced ghd’s woth Remington with an adjustable heat setting and they’re amazing. Much better than my old Ghd’s.

cookiesaurus · 04/09/2019 21:48

Definitely cloud 9s imo!

AntHilda · 04/09/2019 23:03

Babyliss wide plate sleek control are the ones I have and they glide through the hair. They also have heat control so can turn temp to your preference. I had another set of babyliss prior to these that lasted over 10 years.

whizzpopbangalang · 05/09/2019 11:49

I've only heard good things about cloud 9s... apparently they brought over the old ghd company so are technically the old product we all loved! I've got my eye on a pair for Xmas....

amusedbush · 05/09/2019 12:20

I have the Cloud 9 wide plate ones and they are brilliant. 100x better than new GHDs.

UnfamousPoster · 05/09/2019 13:03

I was coming on here to say Cloud 9's but I can see I've been very much beaten to it! They're also heat adjustable.

vavavoomdeboom · 05/09/2019 13:06

Had my wide width GHDs for 12 years now. Would save them if house was on fire

lucysmam · 05/09/2019 20:58

Thank you all. Cloud 9 do sound like the best thing since sliced bread in the straightener world.

Maybe I'm dithering because of the money? I didn't have to worry about anything when I had my original GHD's so if I wanted to blow a weeks wage on them then so be it.

@whizzpopbangalang I heard that somewhere too, not sure where.

I loved my original GHD's so much that I still have them even though they don't work & Ghd won't repair them (but will offer a small amount off new ones. I don't think I'll take them up on that though after these last ones!).

Following as my GHDs dont seem to work as well as they used to so I may need a new set of straighteners soon.

Ronsters · 05/09/2019 21:19

I liked my Remington ones the best. Wasn't keen on GHD and they shorted out while I was using them.

lucysmam · 09/09/2019 11:12

I went for Cloud 9 Touch irons eventually & have just taken delivery - literally 20 minutes ago...and I've used them already Grin

Very pleased so far with my decision after all the dithering! Super fast heat up, no snagging my hair and it only took 15 mins at most to tame my rather erm, unruly, mop before work.

Excellent news @lucysmam! I made the mistake of holding mine too close to the hinge at the weekend and managed to pinch the skin on my hand in it, so perhaps they're not entirely perfect! Wink

I am just a bit of a clutz though...!
