Very dry skin and hair

I'm mid-20s but get very dry hair and skin. Despite using heavy night time moisturiser, not putting soap on my face, not shampoo-ing my hair, eating a lot of omega-3 (good fat) rich food e.g. walnuts, salmon etc., drinking lots of water, generally a healthy diet, I have flaky skin, dry flaky scalp and very dry hair.

Any ideas what might be causing it?

In terms of chinese medicine, I heard a yin deficiency can cause it.

I would be getting my thyroid checked.

Thanks for the reply but I already had it checked as part of a blood test 2 months ago and it came back normal.

Have you tried using this to wash your face?

I had dry flaky skin for years - and nothing seemed to fix it. I started using this to wash my face each morning followed by E45 moisturiser. It took about a week of using it for the dryness to go away.

Is it simply dry skin or do you have a condition, such as eczema? Is it simply dry and flaky or does it also itch?

More Vitamins, especially C and cod liver oil.
Moisturise your skin from the inside
